Need a little help from my friends....

This is me...

I feel a bit crazy... have you ever felt like you had Swiss cheese brain? Somethings stay in but others fall out and you don't ever really know which of those things is going to be important?

I feel like blaming it on old age...lol but then I don't want to offend any of my lovely, wonderful, amazing older friends out there... so I will blame it on my lack of organization.

Yes the secret is out, I am UN-organized!

Those that have known me for while know that this isn't really news. I have just been really good at keeping all the balls in the air. I am one of those people that don't keep a neat house, it's clean, just not neat. I have piles and I know what is in each one. I know which room, which stack and when I put it there. About once a month I purge those piles because I get tired of looking at them.

I can no longer keep all the balls in the air, and it's causing me some significant stress. I need a planner... or a calendar or a pda... or something. I need a place to put my stuff... one place, one that is portable that I can pull out when I am thinking about it and write in it then put away. I can't afford a black berry.

So my friends... any suggestions? Do you have something that helps you keep it all straight? something simple and easy... yet comprehensive enough to work? Am I asking for too much?

Is it completely nuts that I have come this far in life and DON'T already have system?...lol I made it through 2 kids, then 2 adoptions... almost to the age of 40 and I can't do it any more.

God knows what He's doing... I am certain He's been after me to do this for a long time, considering the stress this has caused me, but hey we have all already learned what a slow learner I am. ;o)

Thanks for your help..in advance...

Ha, it creeps me out how much we are alike. I am just like that and sometimes I get extremely overwhelmed. I am truly a pile person too and can find anything in a heartbeat but its annoying for the people around me. What has worked for me is that when I get so overwhelmed I just start one pile at the time or one room at the time. I guess my idea wouldn't be the greatest because I start throwing everything away. Stuff I need I have gotten smaller or bigger boxes and label them. I have this book I have and need to find and I will email you the title.

What's even creepier... is that I say "It creeps me out" ...ALL the time...LOL

Andrea,

How I wish I could be of help to you, my friend. But you see, I am not only old but also disorganized!

I trust that someone will have some help for you. There are a lot of super organized people out there. I'm just not one of them:)

Love,
Laura

Well, I'm not toooooo old, and I'm not toooooo disorganized (most of the time). I have a big planner that I write EVERYTHING on! And, a little desk that is MINE--all my cr@p goes there--so I know where to find it when I need it.

Scott and I put our schedules in our phones and then we sync them up. then, we know what each other has going on all the time. We sync ever weekend....

No fancy phones here- we have go phones....I use a good ol fashioned planner- cost about $6-8. Keep all of our homeschool stuff there. For everything else there is a regular calendar. We have a regular filing system- with the hanging files. We have a place on our computer desk for the bills, and a two tier filing system before it goes in the hanging files....can you tell we are organized? I blame it on having so many kids......and both Jason and I are pretty big on everything has a place or it goes in the trash :)

Now the swiss cheese. My way to stay is too focus on Him. My prayer journal and daily Bible readings, the only way I stay focussed and victorious in my day.

my system is quite easy, and cheap. I can not function in my day without making a list. Every night, I make a list, in a simple lined notebook, of what I would like to accomplish the next day. I take it one day at a time. As I do the things, I cross them off - gives me a sense of accomplishment I guess. :)
And, for long term scheduling, I use my wall calender. Everything that everyone has going on goes on that calander the moment it is scheduled or we know about it. Before making any committments, I go straight to my wall calander to see what else is going on that day.
It's what works for me.
Love ya!

I can only do what I do Sis by God's leadership -- prayer, journaling, keeping pending list etc. with my large book like planner and not adding pressure to myself but just doing what I need to do.

Hope that helps. I think it's a personal thing. What works for one may not for another. I love you girl! Praying for you.
